Should Humanity Fly to Mars?

Millions of people have watched the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. The story takes place in the year 2061, when humans discover a new planet and begin to colonize it. Although the film is fictional, many people believe that humans eventually will colonize other planets. In doing so, we can expand our knowledge of outer space and possibly create a better life for ourselves. However, humans would need to be prepared for the challenges of living on another planet.

Human explorers could learn a lot from Mars’s environment.

Humans could study Mars’s atmosphere, weather patterns, geography and more. Through this research, humans could discover ways to improve their own environment and make life better for everyone on Earth. For example, knowing how weather systems affect crops could improve farming practices on Earth. Discovering how to grow crops in harsh arctic or tropical climates could help farmers in those areas. Similarly, learning about the Martian polar ice caps could inspire us to find a way to remove carbon dioxide from Earth's atmosphere. We could also use Mars to test new space suits and equipment before using them in space colonies on Earth.

Another advantage of colonizing Mars is that it would be humanity’s first step toward making it habitable for humans. When humans first explored the ocean, they discovered that not all marine animals were safe to eat or interact with. However, they learned about these species and created habitats for them so that they could live safely in the ocean. Colonizing Mars would be humanity’s first step toward creating an ocean where we can live safely and comfortably. Plus, it would show other planets that we are willing to start new colonies on other planets. This could encourage other planets to welcome us with open arms when we come to visit them.

Should Humanity Fly to Mars? Poll, arguments if no.

However, Mars may be unsuitable for human life thanks to its environment. Although it has water ice at the poles, most of its ice is too deep under ground for humans to explore easily. Plus, Mars has a very thin atmosphere that limits oxygen levels and makes breathing difficult. Plus, the Red Planet’s low resources could limit its use for future colonists.

Starting with Mars would make colonizing other planets more difficult. Human explorers may have better luck finding water or mineral resources on other planets before starting a colony there. They may also have better luck finding a planet with a more hospitable atmosphere than Mars because of its thin air and lack of water resources. In fact, NASA already has plans to explore Europa, Jupiter’s moon-sized satellite with an icy crust that may contain water beneath it!

Despite some concerns, exploring Mars would be beneficial for humanity overall. Doing so would help humanity learn more about our environment and create better habitats for us here on Earth. Exploring Mars would also be a first step toward making it habitable for humans and could inspire others to do the same thing on other planets. However, human explorers may face some difficulties if they start a colony there first instead of focusing on their home planet first.
